Heelwork to Music Course 2007 for Kathrin Tasker of Mad Kath Agility

Kathleen was very good, very clear on what we had to do and explaining why, and she had a sense of humour, which is important to me and Ollie!  Kathleen was teaching us watching commands......and it was getting him to concentrate more than I expected..........My dog thought Kathleen was the best thing in the world!  When Kathleen was talking and we were standing round in a circle, he would sit in front of me looking at her as if he was understanding every word she said....I wondered if he would find HTM boring  but he didn’t, he kept going all evening, and other than looking at Kathleen adoringly every now and then he looked at me, so I am very pleased.”

“I am writing to thank you for introducing me and my Flatcoated Retriever, Harvey, to HTM.  Looking back over the period of the course I am amazed at how much we have learned in such a short time......My main reason for doing HTM was because Harvey had become difficult to handle during Agility classes.  he was more interested in other dogs, easily distracted and had a tendency to be very noisy.....Thanks to you and the training we have received, I think there has been a remarkable change in his behaviour and he now appears much calmer.....I have really enjoyed every lesson and I think there has definitely been a change to Harvey’s attitude.  This experience has given me the appetite to do more HTM with him.  Many thanks for you time and patience.

“I am glad that I went on your course.  It was interesting, fun, and I think I learnt a lot.  I always very much liked your instructions and demonstrations as to how best to train and handle dogs, which I find applicable to much besides HTM, and I think you explain it all well.......I think the way you communicated and dealt with us and your obvious affection for all the dogs and enthusiasm for their varied talents combined with you own musicality make you an ideal instructor for anyone wanting to learn HTM/Freestyle, (and how to handle dogs and people in general come to that).

Just to let you know that Branston passed his HTM assessment at college.  Thanks so much for your help with him.  We thoroughly enjoyed the classes...everything we learnt in your classes has really helped to set him up for his (agility) training and has helped me find his ‘on’ and ‘off’ switches.  He has now passed his KCGC Award and you wouldn’t believe the change from the totally distracted dog that started with you to the totally focused one who is capable of quite stunning heelwork!
