Founded in 2006 by Kathleen Stubbings, the Blue Merle Clicker Academy is a C.L.A.S.S. Academy (Class Learning And Social Skills), for you and your dog. We will teach you the skills so that YOU can teach YOUR dog how to live harmoniously with you at home, and in your community. The method we use is CLICK & REWARD!
With the Clicker (a small device that makes a click sound) you can teach your dog behaviours that will enthrall and entertain, or even teach your dog to dance!
Kathleen has been a teacher for over 25 years. As a musician and singer she has taught young and old, privately and class groups. She is now putting those teaching skills towards clicker training dogs. She owns three dogs, Jake (BORDERTOWN SHADES OF BLUE), a Blue Merle Border Collie, Aubrey (AUBREY GOLDEN SIRIUS), a Welsh Sheep Dog, and Rose (RHOSYN TEGWEN BANON OF GROVE), also a Welsh Sheepdog. All are clicker trained.
Kathleen has been passionate about Clicker training since getting Jake at 7 weeks old. She has gained her Clicker Trainers CAP 1 & 2 with distinction (Competency Assessment Program) and is studying for her Diploma in TEACHING PEOPLE TEACHING DOGS with Kay Lawrence.
Kathleen and Jake started competing in Kennel Club Heelwork to Music competitions in May 2006 and have made a flying start. After only two competitions they have danced their way to Intermediate standard and are busy gaining points towards qualifying into Advanced.
